Pepper Spotlight

Alongside colleagues at the University of Minnesota, Duke Professor of Medicine Virginia Kraus, M.D., Ph.D. led the study of more than one thousand North Carolinians that detected nine bloodstream molecules that may be able to predict whether an adult over the age of 71 will be alive in two years. The findings were published in the journal Aging Cell on February 24, 2026 and have received much media attention in recent weeks, including a story on NPR radio and articles by Bio-IT World, the Duke Chronicle, and Medscape.
