  • Arts & Health at Duke, in collaboration with the Duke Dementia Family Support Program, is hosting a special exhibition through November 30 titled "The Day After Yesterday - Portraits of Dementia."  The exhibit is in the HAFS Concourse, Mars Galleries (badge access concourse to Duke North from DMP) and the images are also available for viewing online.  
     
  • Worth a listen: NPR 1A segment on American older adults living in poverty -- The Price of Poverty: Seniors are Feeling the Squeeze
     
  • Develop the aging research and geriatrics pipeline, and catch 'em while they're young!!  The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics is seeking mentors for Summer 2023 and AY'23-'24 research opportunities for exceptional highschool students who are seeking careers in research and medicine.  Read all about the 40-year tradition of engaging students in research on the NCSSM Mentorship Program Website, and register through their online portal if you are interested in participating as a mentor.  Questions? A workshop for junior faculty and mid-career investigators conducting research relevant to older adults: Improving communication using the 5Ts Framework, presented by the Pepper Center Research and Education Component

2023 Pepper Center Intervention Development Workshop

The objective of this workshop is to support early investigators in developing and testing complex interventions targeting older populations.  The workshop will be held over 7 sessions in February and March, 2023.  Registration is free and the workshop is limited to 25 participants.

ALICE Program Call for Applications: Academic Leadership, Innovation, and Collaborative Engagement for Mid-Career Women Faculty

The Office for Faculty is now accepting applications for the ALICE program – a leadership development program for mid-career women faculty in the School of Medicine. ALICE – Academic Leadership, Innovation, and Collaborative Engagement –provides in-depth opportunities for leadership skill development, personal reflection and goal setting, peer-mentoring, and structured 360 feedback. The program aims to address the widely recognized gap in the number of women in senior leadership positions in academic medicine by providing a tailored leadership development opportunity for women.

Applications Are Now Available for the 2023 Duke Clinical Leadership Program    

The Duke Clinical Leadership Program (DCLP) was founded by the Chancellor for Health Affairs in 2010 to help expand leadership capacity within Duke Health. The program consists of ten, half-day sessions over the course of six months. The program is supported by the Chancellor and run by the School of Medicine Office for Faculty.  Learn more and apply online  Applications are due 11/10/22

Innovations in Geriatrics Showcase

Faculty, fellows, and staff are encouraged to register for the inaugural Innovations in Geriatrics Education Showcase on 10/26 from 1-3PDT/3-5 CDT/4-6 EDT!  You'll get to hear about exciting work and engage in discussion with colleagues.  Registration is free and participation is via zoom.  Click here to register.
